Wrap-up Week of Methods 2022 and save the date 2023
We would like to sum up the seventeenth interdisciplinary Week of Methods. It took place September 05. – 08., 2022. After 2 years of covid-reated constraints, it was a great pleasure to welcome you in presence at the historical observatory and the convention center by the observatory. We also gained first experiences with hybrid participation.
Dr. Katharina Beier opened the Week of Methods with an instructive keynote (With Good Research Practice through your doctoral Studies). It was followed by parallel workshops:
- Mixed Methods – Designs planen und umsetzen (Felix Knappertsbusch, Hamburg)
- Visual Network Research – A theoretical and methodological Introduction (PD Dr. Markus Gamper, Cologne)
- Introduction to quantitative research designs (Maike Greve and Dr. Kristin Masuch, Goettingen)
Due to low demand we had to cancel workshop 3 („Why am I doing research again?” Ethics and Responsibilities in Qualitative Research – Dr. Olaf Tietje, Munich). We are especially sorry for having to cancel a workshop that promised to be particularly interdisciplinary. Fortunately, Dr. Olaf Tietje already confirmed his participation as keynote speaker in 2023.
We would like to thank WeWiMento Mentee Robert Tiede who did some work shadowing at the GGG office during the Week of Methods. With his support we would were able to ensure adequate service – especially technical support for hybrid participation – and offer an evening programme consisting of a guided tour through the historical observatory and a BBQ. We were very pleased with your entirely positive feedback for this evening programme.
Furthermore, we appreciate your constructive feedback within the evaluation. The overall results are very positive and give proof of the continuing relevance of the Week of Methods. You especially praised the opportunities for interdisciplinary social exchange and showed a strong interest in a broad methods qualification. We continue to answer your demand with a wide range of alternating topics. Your wishes and suggestions will slip in the organization of the next Week of Methods.
SAVE THE DATE: We are happy to announce the date for the next Week of Methods: 11.-14.09.2023. Applications will be possible in June 2023.
