25th Open Science Göttingen Meet-up on 15 March 2023
Open Science and AI
Increasingly research and communication processes make use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and tools – ranging from discovery processes, the analysis and enrichment of information and data to tools that assist in scientific writing, peer review and scholarly communication.
In this session we would like to discuss two perspectives: how Open Science can support or bolster AI applications (e.g. use of open data, open source) and in turn how Open Science can benefit from AI (e.g. creating code, summaries or lay abstracts). However, both may come with opportunities and potential pitfalls (e.g. reinforcement of biases in the data; fake papers, data and/or images).
Suggestions for possible speakers or short reports on own experiences (e.g. use of an AI tool with a link to Open Science practices) are very welcome.
