Pathways into Science Management

Due to too few applications in the beginning of 2023, WeWiMento could not be offered in it’s well established combination of mentoring, work shadowing, qualification and networking under the umbrella of a one-year structured program. Instead, we set up an alternative schedule of qualification for science management in order to provide opportunities for information about and networking in science management to applicants and other persons interested. The target group was extended by the PostDoc Network and coordinators of Research Training Groups at Göttingen Campus. Some offers were accepted very well: Presentations about university financing and personnel administration, an introductory workshop about science management, networking between different dividions and colleagues as well as work shadowing offers for employees and future candidates.

In 2024, Göttingen‘s graduate schools face very scarce human resources. Therefore, we would not be able to deliver a full WeWiMento program with appropriate attention. We consequentlly have to pause WeWiMento in 2024 and will not announce seats for the mentoring program in the beginning of 2024. Hopefully, WeWiMento will restart – maybe in new shape – in 2025, when vacancies and parental leaves will have cancelled out.

Despite these limitations we will offer another introductory workshop (Schnupperworkshop) in 2024. Time and place will be announced in the Qualification Portal for PhD students.
