Information of the equal opportunities and diversity unit: on possibilities of inclusive formulations in salutations and job advertisements
Following the decision of the Federal Constitutional Court in 2017, the „Gesetz zur Änderung der in das Geburtenregister einzutragenden Angaben“ was passed at the end of December 2018. In addition to „female“, „male“ and leaving the entry open, in future there will also be the category „diverse“ as a civil status entry – with effects also on institutional procedures. Affected parties‘ associations welcome the development in principle, but clearly criticize the conditions formulated in the law.
