Understanding the differences between successful and abandoned PhD projects

The Equal Opportunities Officers of the faculties of law, social sciences and economics cooperatively conduct a survey about frameworks for doctoral studies. The study aims at discovering conditions for successful dissertation trajectories on the one hand and reasons to quit on the other hand. Measures of support for positive and successful dissertation processes shall be identified. In order to reach these goals PhD projects‘ conditions and consequences will be analyzed with regard to effects of gender, faculty, dissertational format and social climate.

A three-stage survey encompassing all PhD students of GGG starts in May. Interviews with (potential) quitters will be conducted additionally.
