Online Info Event │ ERC Starting Grant Call 2025 (25.04.2024)

On Thursday, 25 April 2024, the EU Office of the University of Göttingen will offer an online event between 10:00h and approx. 12:30h on the ERC Starting Grant Call 2025 (tentative deadline: October 2024). The event will start with a presentation by the EU Office on the funding conditions of the ERC Starting Grant Call 2025. An ERC Grantee is invited to the event in order to talk about their own experiences and to give hints for the application procedure. Afterwards, our colleagues from the Transfer & Startup Hub of the University of Göttingen will present their services and show how transfer can be considered, especially in basic research project proposals. Finally, there will be enough time for a Q&A session. The event will be held in English.

The European Research Council’s (ERC) mission is to promote the highest quality research in Europe by offering funding schemes that are “investigator-driven” or “bottom-up”. ERC projects allow researchers a great degree of flexibility and substantial funding to pursue new directions in all fields of research. In an open competition, ERC grants are awarded to projects headed by starting to established researchers, irrespective of their origins. The sole criterion is scientific excellence of the project and the researcher.

ERC Starting Grants (ERC StG) fund Principal Investigators (PIs, 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD) who already produced excellent supervised work and are ready to work independently showing potential to be a research leader. ERC StG may be awarded up to 1.5 million Euro for a period of five years. However, an additional 1 million Euro can be made available to cover eligible start-up costs. A two-step evaluation procedure is applied.

Registration for the event is required. Please register by Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the latest via the registration website of the EU Office. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Gunhilde Wilz.
