Essential Information about Security Training and Information Event

As a consequence of an application in GGG’s funding line „from the bottom up“ we included a new workshop format in our qualification program. In cooperation with GFA, we are offering this course again in 2023:

https://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/672283.html

The workshop aims at providing relevant information and practical training to avoid risk and danger during field research abroad, which sometimes go along with exceptional dangers and risks for researchers. This workshop seeks to anticipate individual challenges and offer adequate solutions for PhD students who intend to conduct research abroad. You will receive fundamental information and guidelines for individual travel preparation, e.g. concerning accommodation security, emergency plans and emergency equipment. Furthermore, you will simulate dangerous situations like raid, sudden stress or medical emergencies. This practical training shall empower you to react quickly and reasonably in cases of emergency.

The workshop will take place at Evangelische Tagungsstätte Hofgeismar on November 07-08, 2023 (overnight stay included). The instructors are a mixed-gender team.

The trainers offer an online information exchange in advance on October 05, 2023 (10:30-11:00 am). By participating in this preparatory exchange, you get the chance to ask questions and customize the workshop content with regard to individual expectations and experiences on the one hand and travel plans (destination, duration of stay, accommodation, group trip vs. individual field excursion etc.).

All participants have to come up for an individual co-payment share of 89,- €/person (for accommodation and catering at the workshop location as well as transportation from Göttingen to Hofgeismar and back). The earmarked sum has to be transferred to the trainers no later than one week before the workshop starts.
